DORADO — Puerto Rican restaurant brand La Pachanga is celebrating its fifth anniversary by launching its first franchise program, opening the door for a new generation of entrepreneurs to invest in the growing business.

Founded by Miguel Rodríguez, Christian Ortiz and Ricardo Ortiz, La Pachanga has expanded from a single restaurant into a five-location chain employing more than 200 people across Puerto Rico.

The company said the franchise initiative represents the next phase of its growth strategy after establishing a business model focused on customer experience and community engagement.

“We always knew we didn’t want to open just another restaurant,” the founders said in a statement. “We wanted to build a brand that connects emotionally with people, where food is only the beginning of an experience shared by families and friends.”

During the initial phase of the program, La Pachanga plans to award five franchise opportunities. While applications will be considered from across Puerto Rico, the company identified Caguas, Ponce and Mayagüez as markets with strong expansion potential.

Prospective franchisees will receive support throughout the process, including site selection, restaurant development, opening and operations. The program includes a $30,000 franchise fee, an estimated investment ranging from $140,000 to $450,000, a 5% royalty on net sales and a 2% contribution to the marketing fund. Restaurants are expected to open within three to nine months after approval.

The company said it has already begun meeting with prospective franchise candidates following the program’s digital launch.

In addition to La Pachanga, the founders also operate Sabor Frappé, which has expanded to 52 locations, including 43 franchised units, providing experience in managing a franchise network.

As part of its fifth anniversary celebration, the company will also host the inaugural Pachanga Fest 5K on July 26. The event will be centered at La Pachanga’s Dorado location, with the race starting at the Gran Parque Agroturístico Ecológico de Dorado.

“Our goal isn’t simply to open more restaurants,” the founders said. “We’re looking for five strategic partners who believe in our vision and want to grow alongside a Puerto Rican brand that has already proven its ability to connect with customers and evolve.”

Interested entrepreneurs can learn more about the franchise program through the company’s website.
