AI Drone Maker ZenaTech Eyes U.S. Department of Defense Contracts as Trump Administration Expands Domestic Drone Investment

Vancouver, British Columbia — ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA), a technology company specializing in AI-powered autonomous drones, Drone as a Service (DaaS), enterprise SaaS software, and quantum computing solutions, announced it is actively pursuing opportunities with the U.S. Department of Defense following a Wall Street Journal report indicating that the Trump administration is in talks with American drone companies and is preparing to expand investment in domestically based drone manufacturers.

The company says its subsidiary ZenaDrone is well positioned to support the Pentagon’s objectives, given its commitment to a supply chain compliant with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). ZenaTech plans to pursue opportunities aligned with U.S. government goals to expand domestic production, accelerate the deployment of affordable and scalable autonomous systems, and strengthen national security — including initiatives backed by the Office of Strategic Capital (OSC).

“These are significant opportunities as demand for more advanced technology continues to grow. We believe our defense platform brings true innovation to the market through our integrated product portfolio, offering both flexibility and cost efficiency, enabling a more agile and precision-oriented pipeline,” said Shaun Passley, Ph.D., CEO of ZenaTech. “We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Office of Strategic Capital on a strategic investment to help drive this technology forward.”

ZenaDrone’s defense product portfolio includes the ZenaDrone 1000, a medium-sized VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) cargo drone capable of carrying approximately 40 kilograms, with AI-enabled autonomy and secure communications via its proprietary Drone Net system. Designed for inspection, surveillance, critical cargo delivery, and border patrol, the platform is also being developed in a fuel-powered version to extend flight time. The ZenaDrone 1000 has already completed paid testing with the U.S. Air Force and Navy Reserve.

The IQ Nano is a compact indoor drone built for GPS-denied environments such as warehouses and military facilities, supporting inventory management through barcode scanning, security operations, obstacle avoidance, and AI-powered drone swarming. The IQ Square is a VTOL drone designed for visual inspections, infrastructure monitoring, road and bridge inspection, and defense reconnaissance missions.

ZenaDrone is also developing Counter-UAS technologies currently in the prototype stage, focused on airspace security and drone threat mitigation across defense, government, and critical infrastructure sectors. This portfolio includes the IQ Glider, the one-way interceptor drone Interceptor P-1, and the ZenaDrone 2000 — all developed to support detection, interception, monitoring, and response within a layered defense architecture. The company is pursuing Blue UAS alignment to expand its eligibility within U.S. defense acquisition frameworks.

ZenaTech operates across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and is investing in next-generation technologies including drone swarms, quantum computing, and advanced AI-driven autonomy to capture long-term opportunities in key markets through its research and development initiatives.
