Metro Puerto Rico strengthens digital footprint

Online news consumption grows in Puerto Rico

Metro Puerto Rico reported growth in its digital audience reach in Puerto Rico, according to data presented during the SME Digital & Innovation Forum 2026.

The presentation positioned Metro among the island’s most visited local news and media outlets over the past 30 days, underscoring the continued shift toward digital-first news consumption in Puerto Rico.

According to the figures shared during the forum, Metro achieved a 38.5% level of digital recognition and audience engagement, marking an increase from the 29.3% reported in 2025. The growth comes as consumers increasingly rely on mobile platforms and social media channels for news and entertainment content.

The digital landscape overview presented at the event also showed that Facebook remains the dominant social media platform in Puerto Rico, while Instagram, TikTok and YouTube continue posting steady gains in daily usage and audience engagement.

In addition, the study highlighted that social media platforms continue serving as the primary gateway for discovering digital content, including news coverage, podcasts and independent creators.
