SAN JUAN — PRISA Group has unveiled DISTRITO Sports Hub, a $20 million sports, entertainment and social complex that will expand the Puerto Rico Convention District and further position San Juan as a premier urban tourism destination in the Caribbean.

Scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2027, the project will feature a mix of recreational, wellness and entertainment amenities designed for residents, tourists and corporate groups.

“DISTRITO Sports Hub represents another important step toward creating a world-class urban destination,” said Federico Stubbe, CEO of PRISA Group. “We want to build spaces where people can play, gather, celebrate and create memorable experiences.”

The development will include:

  • Eight indoor pickleball courts
  • Four covered padel courts
  • Two beach tennis courts
  • Two mini soccer fields
  • A 3-on-3 basketball court
  • Duckpin bowling lanes
  • Shuffleboard and bocce courts
  • Private event spaces
  • Restaurants, bars and retail
  • A central lawn with a performance stage for concerts, festivals and community events

The Sports Hub will be directly connected to DISTRITO T-Mobile, creating a seamless pedestrian experience between sports, dining and entertainment while marking the beginning of the Convention District’s southern expansion.

The project is expected to generate 187 jobs during construction and create more than 100 permanent positions once operational.

Puerto Rico Gov. Jenniffer González Colón said the development represents the type of investment the island seeks to attract.

“Projects like DISTRITO Sports Hub create jobs, strengthen tourism and generate long-term economic activity while enhancing Puerto Rico’s competitiveness,” she said.

The project is financed by Banco Popular de Puerto Rico and follows the success of similar PRISA Group developments in Dorado Beach Resort and Sabanera Dorado.

According to the company, the new venue is designed to serve families, local residents, visitors and corporate clients while expanding the Convention District’s portfolio of attractions and reinforcing its role as a driver of economic development.
