Buscando el Mar” marks first collaboration with Juan Luis Guerra as Vives continues international tour
Colombian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives will perform in Puerto Rico on June 5 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot as part of his “Tour al Sol 2026,” while also promoting his newly released single “Buscando el Mar,” a collaboration with Dominican artist Juan Luis Guerra.
The track marks the first collaboration between the two Latin music icons and is inspired by the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez, drawing on the symbolic search for the sea as a metaphor for freedom, nostalgia, and personal discovery.
“Buscando el Mar” blends Caribbean rhythms with pop elements, incorporating percussion, guitars, and piano to create a sound that reflects both artists’ musical styles.
“I have admired Carlos’ music and career for many years,” Guerra said. “This is the perfect moment, and the perfect song, for us to sing together.”
The release is accompanied by a concept video that combines archival and current imagery from both artists, along with the song’s lyrics.
The single serves as the second preview of Vives’ upcoming album El Último Disco, a project centered on themes of connection, memory, and shared values. The album follows the earlier release of “Te Dedico,” an intimate track that emphasizes emotional connection through music.
Vives, an 18-time Latin GRAMMY winner, is currently on an international tour that has already included sold-out performances in Canada and multiple stops across the United States and Latin America.
The upcoming Puerto Rico performance is expected to draw strong attendance, reinforcing the island’s position as a key destination for major Latin music events and its impact on the local entertainment and tourism sectors.
