The initiative comes as travel interest from Brazil continues to grow, creating new opportunities for Puerto Rico’s visitor economy.
SAN JUAN — Discover Puerto Rico is expanding its presence in Brazil through a strategic partnership with Orinter Tour & Travel, one of the country’s leading tour operators and travel wholesalers, as the destination seeks to capitalize on growing demand from the Latin American market.
As part of the initiative, Discover Puerto Rico hosted a familiarization (FAM) trip for 75 of Orinter’s top-performing travel advisors, giving them firsthand experience of the island’s tourism offerings.
During their visit, participants explored Puerto Rico’s historic, cultural, culinary and natural attractions, including Old San Juan, El Yunque National Forest, Casa Bacardí, beaches and several of the island’s leading hotels.
The program also generated editorial coverage in Panrotas, one of Brazil’s most influential travel industry publications, highlighting Puerto Rico’s diverse tourism experiences and growing appeal among Brazilian travelers.
“Brazil continues to establish itself as one of our highest-potential international markets,” said Jorge L. Pérez, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico. “Strategic partnerships like the one we’ve developed with Orinter allow us to connect Puerto Rico with the professionals who influence the travel decisions of thousands of consumers.”
According to ForwardKeys data cited by Discover Puerto Rico, travel searches from Brazil to Puerto Rico have increased by approximately 30%, reflecting growing interest in the destination and supporting the organization’s long-term strategy to expand its presence in high-potential international markets.
Beyond destination marketing, the partnership also strengthens Puerto Rico’s commercial presence in Brazil. Through Orinter’s extensive distribution network, Brazilian travelers now have access to vacation packages tailored specifically to the market, including negotiated airfare, pricing in local currency and financing options of up to 12 installments.
“Our objective goes beyond promoting the destination,” Pérez said. “We want to build lasting commercial relationships that make Puerto Rico easier to sell, strengthen travel advisors’ confidence and convert growing interest from the Brazilian market into more visitors, greater economic activity and new opportunities for Puerto Rico’s tourism industry.”
The collaboration is part of Discover Puerto Rico’s broader international strategy to expand the island’s presence across Latin America and other global markets through partnerships with tour operators, travel agencies, airlines and specialized media.
