Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel said Thursday that agency-endorsed lodgings are projecting occupancy above 88% for the July 24-27 weekend, with Saturday expected to be the busiest day.
“We are very pleased with the sustained growth our tourism industry is experiencing, both in hotel occupancy levels and in the growing number of residents choosing to support local tourism businesses and enjoy the wide range of options and events available for domestic tourism during the holiday,” Robles Cancel said in written remarks.
Preliminary agency statistics show the Porta Capital tourism region, which covers the metropolitan area, posting the highest projected occupancy at 94.1%. It is followed by Porta Cordillera at 86.5%, Porta Atlántico at 86.3%, Porta Caribe at 83.5%, Porta del Sol Sur at 83%, Porta del Sol Norte at 82%, and Porta del Mar at 80%.
