SBA launches $1 million Patriot Pitch competition for U.S. entrepreneurs

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the launch of the Patriot Pitch Competition, a national initiative designed to celebrate 250 years of free enterprise in the United States while spotlighting small businesses driving innovation, job creation and economic growth.

The competition, part of the Freedom 250 initiative, will award a total of $1 million in cash prizes funded by Clover Network, Inc. and is open to eligible small businesses that have utilized SBA-approved capital products.

“From the family farm to the factory floor, small businesses have overcome challenges for the past 250 years to power the American economy, which is why the SBA is proud to highlight the legacy and future of entrepreneurship through the Patriot Pitch Competition,” SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler said in a statement.

Loeffler said the national competition will recognize businesses whose “innovation, determination and leadership” are helping shape the next era of U.S. economic strength and competitiveness.

Takis Georgakopoulos, co-president of Fiserv, said Clover is supporting the initiative because it reflects values tied to American entrepreneurship, innovation and competition.

The Patriot Pitch Competition will unfold across four evaluation phases. Participants will be assessed on criteria including strengthening U.S. competitiveness, demonstrating innovation and industry impact, creating economic opportunities and quality jobs, and presenting strong business fundamentals and execution readiness.

The competition will culminate with a live final event in Washington, D.C. in September, where finalists will pitch their businesses before a panel of judges and a national audience for a chance to win a share of the $1 million prize pool.

In addition to the pitch competition, the event will feature keynote speakers from the business and public sectors, supplier matchmaking opportunities connecting small businesses with larger corporations, and networking sessions with investors, industry leaders and policymakers.

Small business owners interested in participating are encouraged to apply before June 10. Additional details regarding eligibility requirements, competition stages and event scheduling are available through the SBA.

More details about eligibility, competition stages and event scheduling can be found at www.sba.gov/freedom250
