ISSAQUAH, Washington -Costco Wholesale reported net sales of $24.01 billion for the retail month of May, a 14.5% increase from $20.97 billion during the same period last year, with digital channels and U.S. stores leading the charge.
The warehouse retailer’s comparable sales rose 12.5% for the four-week period ended May 31, 2026, and 8.3% over the first 39 weeks of its fiscal year. Stripping out the impact of gasoline price swings and foreign exchange movements, comparable sales grew 8.0% for the month and 6.7% year-to-date.
U.S. stores drove the strongest monthly gains, posting 13.7% comparable sales growth for May. Canada and international markets followed with 9.2% and 9.7% gains, respectively.
Digitally-enabled sales continued to outpace physical stores by a wide margin, climbing 21.1% for the month and 21.6% through the first 39 weeks of the fiscal year — a sign that Costco’s e-commerce push is gaining lasting momentum with its membership base.
For the first 39 weeks of the fiscal year, total net sales reached $221.19 billion, up 10.0% from $201.02 billion during the same period last year.
Costco currently operates 931 warehouses worldwide, including 639 locations in the United States and Puerto Rico. The company also runs e-commerce sites in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, and China.
