Bank of America announced Wednesday that it plans to invest $250 billion in U.S. infrastructure and digital projects through July 2027, as part of an initiative marking the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.

In a statement the bank said the investment will strengthen and modernize U.S. infrastructure “by supporting energy security, job growth, and economic competitiveness.”

Rising demand for computing power, energy, manufacturing capacity, modern transportation systems, and diversified supply chains is fueling a new wave of infrastructure investment across the country, according to the bank. They will support its clients in these sectors by helping them access the capital needed to expand their operations.

“This initiative reflects our confidence in the country’s future and in the investments that will shape it,” said Bank of America Co-Chairman Jim DeMare in the statement.

“The infrastructure that drives our economy strengthens our energy security, ensures our technological leadership, will drive growth, create jobs, and shape the next chapter of the United States,” the executive said.

The financing package will include primary market loans, investments, capital markets, banking services, and advisory solutions across three major infrastructure categories. The first covers digital infrastructure such as data centers and IT infrastructure (hardware, chips, and equipment), telecommunications, and semiconductors.

Secondly, Bank of America will finance energy and electric infrastructure, such as conventional and renewable power generation and storage. The third and final will focus on transportation and basic infrastructure. It will cover: electric transmission, grid optimization, water systems, critical minerals, and mining, in addition to other assets.

“Implementing these projects requires integrated financing solutions that encompass both corporate and project capital, in both public and private markets,” said Karen Fang, the bank’s global head of sustainable finance.

The bank also stated that this investment is expected to support job creation across construction, manufacturing, technology, and long-term operations.

Bank of America shares rose 1% on Wall Street following the announcement.
